Q&A with our newest member – Larin Shouldice (CBRE)
Sales Representative, Associate Vice President
How long have you been working in CRE? What do you enjoy the most about working in it?
I became licensed in 2000 and went straight into commercial real estate joining CBRE. I specialize in industrial real estate, and always enjoy touring manufacturing plants and getting the opportunity to see the start to finish process of sometimes only a small component of something larger. I enjoy working with a broad array of people from corporate level folks to the entrepreneur.
How did you first hear about SIOR?
Our manager, Peter Whatmore, is a big believer in SIOR and encouraged us to get involved with various events and education. Through these experiences, I learned more about the SIOR program, saw the great networking that goes on, and learned how highly this designation is viewed from many clients.
What convinced you to get your designation and become a member?
At the very least, the SIOR designation gives me a competitive edge in the marketplace and adds credibility to new clients, but more than that it offers great networking events another platform to market properties across North America as well as great on-going education.
As a new member, what are you looking to get out of being a part of SIOR?
This business is about who you know, so I’m looking to Increase networking with industry professionals, increase my brand within the local market, as well as an additional marketing platform for industrial real estate listings.
What advice would you give to any brokers out there who are unsure about joining SIOR?
It is an industry recognized and leading designation that only enhances your credibility and reputation. If you make the decision to add a designation, SIOR should be at the top of your list.
We asked our members what they love the most of being a part of SIOR Canada Central Chapter and here is what they had to say!
Ski Day Update
Industry professionals, valued sponsors, and SIOR members had the unique opportunity to network with a diverse attendance of 112 delegates at a beautiful exclusive chalet in the Ontario Blue Mountains on Thursday evening. Friday was an exception day of spring weather skiing followed by cozy Après Ski reception in the Craigleith Ski Club, club house. Many thanks to our event sponsors, Avison Young for sponsoring the food and beverage, Colliers International for sponsoring the oyster bar, and Leeswood Construction for sponsoring our performance fleece giveaway. We look forward to many more years of hosting this wonderful event!
