SIOR Canada Central Chapter (SIOR CCC) hosted the 2016 Broker of the Year Awards on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Palais Royale in Toronto. The annual event honoring top brokers, was again a sellout, with over 200 real commercial real estate leaders from the Greater Toronto area and Southern Ontario.
The event marked the 10th Annual SIOR Broker of the Year Awards – created to recognize brokers that exhibit extraordinary impact, creativity, skill and reputation in the commercial real estate industry. The event, co-emceed by Noah Gordon of Menkes and Nick Stryland of DREAM Industrial REIT, highlighted three award categories; Industrial Broker of the Year, Office Broker of the Year and Young Professional of the Year.
Those awards in 2016 included:
2016 Industrial Broker of the Year: Kyle Hanna, CBRE. Other nominees were John Powell, Colliers International, and Goran Brelih, Cushman & Wakefield.
2016 Office Broker of the Year: Lee Billinkoff, Cushman and Wakefield Ltd. Other nominees were Jeff Flemington, Avison Young and Tobin Davis, Colliers.
2016 Young Professional of the Year: Fraser McKenna, CBRE. Other nominees were Brendan Sullivan, CBRE and Katya Shabanova, Cushman & Wakefield.

Chapter President Doug Murray presided over the evening and echod the same message: “This is a room full of leaders. To be recognized tonight is that ‘next level’ of professional success. Production is important, but to earning the respect and admiration of your colleagues makes these awards ‘extra special.’”
